Chapter Summary

The following list highlights some of the accomplishments I am most-proud of:

• Planned and built kennel from the ground up
• Researched other kennel operations
• Figured out a way to finance building and purchase of property
• Got Federal, State, County, and City permits
• Learned to groom dogs, cats, and horses
• Hired groomers
• Hired employees
• Efficiently managed employees
• Had as many as 18 full and part-time employees
• Created a successful six figure business
• Raised and showed champion Golden Retrievers and Australian Shepherds
• Trained and showed dogs and horses
• Taught obedience classes
• Became an Australian Shepherd Club of America judge in 1988 and judged in US and Europe
• Coached and mentored 4-H dog program for 40 years
• Rescued and found forever homes for thousands of dogs and cats
• Received customer service award given by local Chamber of Commerce
• Hired at-risk youth and gave them a second chance
• Developed thousands of human-canine relationships
• Kindly took care of peoples beloved pets
• Successfully ran the kennel for 23 years and sold it in 2010
