PLA Portfolio Evaluation

Each Conversion Portfolio and Life Experience Portfolio will be evaluated by an  expert in the content areas (topic) that are the focus of the each portfolio "chapter." These evaluators will be a Prescott College instructor who teaches within the topic of a respective chapter.

The evaluators of all portfolio types determine your credit award. Evaluators may award fewer credits than requested if the portfolio does not offer enough evidence, professionally presented, to justify full credit. Credit awards are based on how well a portfolio meets the stated criteria for analysis, synthesis, and documentation.  The student maintains all responsibility for the quality of the final Eportfolio; the PLA course instructor offers guidance but no assurances that the student's credit request will be met by all evaluators. Credit for the Eportfolio becomes a part of your official transcript and may apply to course requirements for graduation.

In sum:

  • Requested awards are not guaranteed. The quality of a student's writing, presentation, and documentation will determine awards, indicated by the evaluators' written review of the portfolio.

  • Prior learning must be credibly described and verified by signed documentation where possible. Questionable or inappropriate documentation may result in no credit for a chapter or Eportfolio. Evaluation criteria are reinforced by the PLA course instructor throughout the PLA course and must be attended to.
  • All letters of documentation must be signed and written by the person who is asked by the student to submit them. Contact information for the signer(s) is required for each document.

  • The portfolio(s) must be submitted per the course deadlines. Incompletes for the course are not allowed. Failure to complete a portfolio by the announced deadlines will preclude evaluation of that portfolio for credit.

  • Students will be notified in writing as to their final credit award and other feedback from evaluators.
