Creative Power: Art & Leadership Development

Chosen by the student, this senior project is the culminated effort which completes her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art & Human Development.  The student is the creator and facilitator of a girls’ art and leadership program to be held at a local middle school, offering girls inclusion within a group that supports interpersonal skills and self-awareness as artists and as members of the community.  Through an internship with Walnut Avenue Women’s Center, the student will be exposed to the center’s strength-based family resource model.  This non-profit has long standing community ties and is an ideal organization for the graduating student to utilize her gained knowledge in a hands-on capacity while making a difference within the community and in particular for the youth that she serves.  The student’s designed internship will be implemented with the backing of the women’s center and in collaboration with Edward A. Hall Middle School.
